Smile.

Just liked the natural lighting and composition of this one.

He's a really nice guy. You can tell here.

So yes, it's summer! That means I'll have plenty of time to post here again. I'd like to make a custom layout and have links to other DPCers as well, so hopefully that'll happen in the near future - unless someone will actually give me a job so I can save up some money for school, I've had bad luck with this so far. : ( Oh well, I'm still hopeful.

Day One & Two.

So I missed the first day...heh.

Moving on:

My first attempt at capturing action. The photos from today didn't turn out half bad. I'm pretty happy with them, hopefully some of the will make it to the grad slide show.

I guess I'll post two since I missed yesterday's.

I'm so exhausted, what a day.

We won the provincials!

Starting tomorrow I will be doing a 30 day people portrait self challenge where I will post a photo everyday of someone, hopefully besides myself if I can find willing models. : D So keep a look out for that.

I've been posting my photos at dpchallenge, so I rarely get around to posting them here. : (

Click for larger view. Self portrait. Not a big fan of the skin coloring but it's part poorly applied make-up and part the lighting, of which the white balance is nearly impossible because of several lamps of different types of bulbs.

I'll be starting a 30-Day portrait challenge on June 1st with Dpc. I'll link to yours if you want to.

Seaside Sunset

Just a quick snap taken at the beach, edited the colours in photoshop to give it more depth.

The Teal House

(Click)
Everytime I see this house I imagine how wonderful it would be to wake up every morning with the sea in the air and the sun pouring in through the windows. At the first of spring it must be heaven with the crisp air and all around feelings of freshness and renewal.

The original is completely in focus, and a little blah. I over saturated the colours and used Gaussion Blur in PS 7 to give it a dreamy feel.

Had a fantastic time shooting today. Went swinging and then shot pictures for an upcoming dpchallenge. I think they turned out alright, here's hoping the voters think so too.

Dead Tulip

(Click for enlargement.)
Another photo towards the Tulip Triptych, don't know if I'll use this one, but I like it. Used curves in Photoshop to really bring out the colours and make the white shine. Another "high key" look I guess you could say.

There's Beauty in the Breakdown.

Tonight was quite the night photography wise. I set up this huge thing in the pursuit of the all too elusive perfect white background. This consisted of a sheet hanging from the wall, a stand with a lamp behind it, the front of the sheet over the ironing board for something for the vase to stand on, an overhead light and another lamp on the side. It took quite a few shots but I love this one quite a bit and am relatively happy with it. I Photoshopped some of the wrinkles out of the sheet that I couldn't get with the iron and cloned out some dirt I couldn't clean out of the bottle. The colours came out of the camera like that, they're unedited.

I'm making a triptych of the tulip dying ( goes with the title of this post) to use as a visual response to that lyric. Here's hoping this goes as planned and not nearly as many catastrophes occur as with the narrative sequence.

I love photography. *sigh*

Macro Gold

Today I've been experimenting with the macro setting, it's not very good on this camera unfortunately. My other camera has a pretty good one so I'll be able to get some great shots when I get that back I believe. I'm thinking about getting into stock to try to raise some money towards a dSLR. It'd be a good way to learn and to keep myself out there taking photos.

I'm working on good lighting and composition lately. Trying to get good quality, and low noise shots. I like the coloring on this one, there is very little editing done on it. It has a rather neat look in my opinion. Sort of "high key"ish.

The Bench

So this is my first entry, hopefully I'll be able to keep up and post a photo everyday.

This is part of a narrative sequence I am making for my art school application. It was taken uptown in -30 degrees celcius weather. Not pleasant, but my lovely models take that sort of thing with grace to keep me happy. : )

C & C greatly appreciated.
